Bilateral Trade: According to Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority, bilateral trade stood at US$180.5 million from January to February 2017, out of which India’s exports to Ethiopia were US$171.1 million and imports were US$9.4 million. Exports from India consisted mainly of primary and semi-finished iron and steel products, drugs and pharmaceuticals, machinery and instruments, manufactures of metal, etc. Major imports by India from Ethiopia were: semi precious stones, pulses, leather, oil seeds and vegetables & seeds. India is the second most important source of imports for Ethiopia, contributing 7.1% of all of Ethiopia’s imports next to China.

EXPORTS (including re-exports)
Continuing the revival exhibited by exports in previous two months, exports during November 2016, showed a positive growth of 2.29% in dollar terms (valued at US$ 20009.58 million) as compared to US$ 19560.92 million during November 2015. Cumulative value of exports for the period April-November 2016-17 was US$ 174922.78 million as against US$ 174740.27 million registering a positive growth of 0.10 % in Dollar terms over the same period last year.
Non-petroleum exports in November 2016 were valued at US$ 17602.33 million against US$ 17232.25 million in November 2015, an increase of 2.1 %. Non-petroleum exports during April - November 2016-17 were valued at US$ 155713.51 million as compared to US$ 152923.93 million for the corresponding period in 2015, an increase of 1.8%.
IMPORTS
Imports during November 2016 were valued at US$ 33018.45 million which was 10.44 per cent higher in Dollar terms over the level of imports valued at US$ 29896.41 million in November,2015. Cumulative value of imports for the period April-November 2016-17 was US$ 241101.60 million as against US$ 263314.36 million registering a negative growth of 8.44 per cent in Dollar terms over the same period last year.
