Egypt to host 26th WEF 2020
Egypt will host the 26th round of the Women Economic Forum (WEF) in March 2020. These remarks were made by Chairman of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi during her participation in the WEF 2019 currently held in India.
In a statement on 15th April, 2019, Morsi lauded the strenuous efforts of Egyptian Ambassador to India Heba el Marasi and former ambassador Hatem Tag el Din so that Egypt can host the forum.

India Opportunities Seminar
Mission in collaboration with Invest India & Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand organized day long various seminars on 25th April 2019 at Holiday Inn Hotel Bangkok. "India Opportunities", was held and Ambassador gave the welcome remarks. Mr. Veerasak Kositpaisal, Vice Chairman, Federation of Thai Industry addressed the audience, Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana, President EXIM Bank of Thailand gave his thoughtful remarks, Ms. Prim Jitcharoongphorn, President, Thailand-India Business Council & Deputy Secretary General of Board of Trade of Thailand also addressed. Ms. Priya Rawat from Invest India gave the detailed presentation on Opportunities in India. Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn, Director General, Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce gave the presentation on opportunities in India in Food Processing & Tourism sectors. Programme ended with Q & A session.
Food Processing Opportunities
In the afternoon session first seminar titled "Food Processing Opportunities" was held. Deputy Chief of Mission gave the welcome remarks, address. Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn. Director General, Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand also addresed the Seminar which followed by a Presentation by Invest India on “Food Processing”. Programme ended with Q & A session and was well attended by gueste from food processing industries. Ms. Reema Prakash, JS, Ministry of Food Procesing Industry, Govt. of India gave her remarks to the audience over video conferencing.
India join with Thailand companies for Investment

Investment Expert from Invest India Department from India Government Enterprises provided special speech in recent seminar under topic ‘Opportunity in India’ on 25th April 2019. He said that India investment business in 2018 worth over 35.8 billion dollars, higher than previous year for about 37 percent India now has over 1.3 billion populations and is expected to reach over 1.5 billion populations within 2025.

India-Taiwan bilateral trade and investment
In the month of March, total Indian export to Taiwan is USD 154.31 million, which is an decrease of 32.44% as compared to the same period of last year; total Indian imports from Taiwan is USD 335.37 million, which is an increase of 2.35%. The total volume of trade between India and Taiwan in March 2019 was USD 489.68 million.
In the month of March, the total amount of Taiwanese investment in India is USD 3.105 million; the total amount of Indian investment in Taiwan is USD 88,000.
Analysis - The unemployment rate in March is 3.68%, up by 0.02% from a year earlier. Labour participation rate was 59.06% in March, up by 0.19% from the year earlier.
Average Exchange rate in March is 30.857 NTD to 1 USD, depreciation of 0.133% from February 2019.
Taiwan Central Bank Governor Dr. Chin-Long Yang pointed out two major elements: development of international trade volume and global economy, which relate the most to Taiwan’s economic growth in 2019.
Innolux Corp., a Taiwanese liquid crystal display manufacturer, together with fingerprint module provider Startek Engineering and sensing technology developer Super C-Touch Corp. launched a glass capacitive fingerprint reader through a strategic alliance press conference on 4 March, 2019, in an attempt to take the Indian fingerprint reader leading position. Super C-Touch Vice Chairman Mr. Howard Wang said that India is now like China 10 years ago; the strategic alliance comes at the best timing to enter India and is benefiting from Digital India policy. Innolux plans to start mass production of the identification device in Taiwan in the third quarter of 2019 and begin shipments early next year.
Taiwan’s Export-Import Bank (Eximbank), a government-owned bank aiming at facilitating export and import trade of Taiwan, held the New Southbound Textile Industry Business Opportunity and Experience Sharing Forum on 8 March, 2019, participants including government officials (Mr. John Deng, Minister without Portfolio, Executive Yuan, and Mr. James Chang, Deputy Director General, Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs), Mr. Cheng-Tien Chan, Chairman of Taiwan Textile Federation and representatives from textile companies. Eximbank Chairman Mr Shui-Yung Lin addressed that New Southbound countries like ASEAN countries and India are becoming the first priority for Taiwanese companies to establish their plants, in which textile companies are the most active industry. In addition, Tah Tong Textile Co. and Jintex also signed MOU with the bank in the forum for their investment plan in India and Vietnam.
Taiwan’s non-woven manufacturer Nan Liu Enterprise is reported to finish its manufacturing facility construction in Ahmedabad in the third quarter of 2019 and plan to start production in 2020.
