My dear fellow exporters,

The International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS VI) will be held over 16-18 March 2017 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. This will be the largest show compared to the previous five editions. The Russian Federation will be Partner Country while Tamil Nadu the Host State.

Some of the facets of IESS VI which makes it a unique Sourcing show is the participation of 400 companies, a similar number of overseas buyers from 40 plus countries, focus business missions from the Czech Republic, Flanders, Bavaria, Global sourcing meeting of global giants like Kubota, Yanmar, Siemens, Schwing Stetter, and Vendor Development meets of major India PSUs.

This edition of IESS also includes Technology and Innovation Pavilions with representations from BARC, IIT Mumbai, IIT Madras, FCRI (Fluid Control Research Institute), ARCI (International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials), CMTI (Central Manufacturing Technology Institute), and MSME Tools Room.

I request all our readers to take advantage of India’s biggest engineering sourcing show where buyers from all over the world will converge during this period.

Yours sincerely,

Canada and India Invest $4 Million to Improve Health and Develop Smart Green Buildings

IC-IMPACTS Centres of Excellence, the Department of Science and Technology, India (DST), and the Department of Biotechnology, India (DBT) have committed $4 million for 10 new research projects to improve health and develop smart and green buildings. IC-IMPACTS partnered with DST and DBT earlier this year in to support collaborative research in Smart and Green Buildings for Sustainable Cities and Portable Devices and Analyzers. Applications from across Canada and India were received during the call for proposals and after a rigorous review process, 5 projects from each initiative were selected. IC-IMPACTS CEO Dr. Nemy Banthia met with The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Indian Minister of Science and Technology, to announce the details of the 10 new projects.  Funding collaborative projects that bring research experts, industry, leaders, and community members from both sides to form practical solutions significantly deepen the bilateral ties between Canada and India.  Net zero buildings, energy management systems, and portable kits to detect diseases are just a few of the challenges being addressed by these projects.  IC-IMPACTS, DST and DBT formed a similar partnership earlier in 2015 and invested $3.7 million to fund 9 projects working on innovative infrastructure and water technologies.  IC-IMPACTS is now funding 38 unique research projects across Canada and India.

Agri-Food Mission Strengthens Economic Ties with India

Ontario is helping to grow the province`s agri-food industry and support expanded international trade and investment in the sector. Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal and Minister of International Trade Michael Chan successfully concluded Ontario`s first ever agri-food trade mission in India (November 13-20, 2016) along with delegates from Ontario agri-food businesses and organizations. An 18 member business delegation accompanied the Ministers. The delegates participating in the mission represented a diverse range of agri-food businesses and organizations from across Ontario. The delegates included representatives from the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association, Competitive Green Technologies, Eat-In-Foods, Fiera Foods Company/Upper Crust, Flavorcan International Inc. Greaveston Genetics Inc. Jamieson Laboratories, Jaylor, Leading System Consultants Inc. Martin`s Family Fruit Farm, Nurture Growth, Park Tak International Corporation, Pillitteri Estates Winery, Proteins Easy Corp, Punn Impex Ltd. Riz Global Foods, Starmedix and University of Guelph. While in India, representatives of the province signed a memorandum of understanding with the Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI) to facilitate trade and investment in Ontario and strengthen relationships among agri-food businesses and organizations. Ministers and delegates also promoted Ontario`s cutting edge agri-technology and economic opportunities to more than 300 Indian agri-food companies and government officials. The mission built on the momentum of Premier Kathleen Wynne`s trade mission to India earlier this year, and helped demonstrate Ontario`s continued commitment to forging strong economic relationships that allow the province to remain globally competitive. Building new relationships and helping Ontario businesses compete globally is a part of the Province’s plan to create jobs, grow its economy and help people in their everyday lives. During the visits, agreements signed included:

• An agreement was signed between the University of Guelph and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to explore opportunities for research cooperation in livestock agriculture, aquaculture, food science and veterinary medicine.

• While in Mumbai, Minister Chan witnessed a contract signing between Ontario-based Built Rite Technologies Inc. and Infinity Group, and also took part in the signing of an expression of interest between Clearford Water Systems and the municipal government of Bhilai to implement a decentralized sewage system.
