Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi participated in meeting of the India Mexico Bilateral Committee at COMCE National, co-chaired by Mr. Jorge Lopez Morton, National Vice President of COMCE. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Dora Rodriguez, DG, Minister of Economy of Mexico. In January this year, COMCE took a delegation of 6 members for Indus Food Expo. The committee reviews on behalf of COMCE, the national chamber of exports and imports, the progress of India-Mexico bilateral relations.
Honorary Consulate of India in Monterrey
Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi unveiled the Honorary Consulate of India in Monterrey by presenting a copy of the Commission of Appointment from the President of India to Mr. Mario Laborin Benavides, India´s new Honorary Consul. The programme was attended by senior representatives of the Govt. of Nuevo Leon,Consular Corps, Indian community and prominent businessmen.
India in Monterrey
A business seminar on ´India-Mexico Privileged Partnership´ was organised in Monterrey on 13 March 2019. Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi shared his thoughts on India and Mexico relations. Mr. Lorenzo Aguilar, Sub-secretary of Investment and Industrial Development of Nuevo Leon Govt. spoke on the potential areas of engagement between India and Nuevo Leon; Mr. Dennis Muzza from Infosys on the Indian IT industry, Mr. Adolfo Lamadrid from Metalsa on their experience in India and Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Commercial Representative on Doing Business with India. Mr. Mario Laborin, India`s Honorary Consul moderated the event.
India-Mexico Parliamentary Relations
Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi visited Mexican Senate and met the Chairperson of Senate Foreign Relations Commission-Asia Pacific & Africa, Senator Cora Cecilia Pinedo and other Member Senators to exchange views on India Mexico relations, including parliamentary exchanges.

Ind ia – Swi tz erland Trad e F igu res: During the period from Jan – Dec 2018, Switzerland’s imports from India stood at USD 1,876 million (with Precious Metals), exports to India stood at USD 17,820 million (with Precious Metals) and the total trade with India was USD 19,696 million (including Precious Metals). Total India – Switzerland trade as percentage of Switzerland’s total trade in Jan – Dec 2018 was 3.34% as compared to 3.76% in Jan – Dec 2017.

China India exports boosting

Deputy Minister or Commerce revealed that the ministry has planned to push Thai exporters to India market more due to India is one of the biggest markets in the world with over 1.3 billion population. Thai export product share in India grew up to only 1.9 percent in 2018 from 1.7 percent in 2017. The ministry needed Thai exporter to focus more on India market due to its continuous market expansion for many product group such as home appliance, TV, mobile phone, steel and others.

Potential products of exports for India
Pharmaceutical products : Venezuelan pharmaceutical industry is severely affected by the lack of private investment and relies heavily on the imports for drugs and pharmaceuticals. India is one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of pharmaceuticals in the world and enjoys acceptance in the Venezuelan market due to its quality and competitive prices.
Auto-parts : India is one of the top manufacturers of auto-parts in the world. Venezuela is in dire need of auto-parts for all kinds of vehicles.
Oil and gas machinery and spare parts : Venezuela needs oil and gas industry machinery and spare parts to reactivate their oil industry. The Venezuelan oil industry uses machinery and parts which are US standards compliant, and India manufactures such items compliant with US standards at lower rates.
Power generation equipment : In March 2019, Venezuela faced the worst blackout in its history which paralyzed most of the country reportedly due to critical failures in the power generation plants.
India – Venezuela relations
India remains as top destination of Venezuelan crude oil exports: According to media reports, India was once again Venezuela’s main destination for exports in March, with a third of total cargoes sent to refineries operated by Reliance Industries and Nayara Energy. The reports indicate that India was recipient of 242,000 barrels per day followed by China with 210,000 barrels per day. Following U.S. pressure, Reliance reportedly turned to selling fuel to Venezuela from India and Europe to circumvent sanctions. Cargoes sent to India, China and Singapore made up 74% of Venezuela’s total exports in March, compared with almost 70% in February. Exports to Europe accounted for 17% of the total, versus 22% the previous month.
