Trade – In NOVEMBER 2019, India France bilateral trade stood at € 792.88 million. India’s exports to France stood at € 407.67 million. Main exports to France included Aviation turbine fuel (ATF), T-shirts, precious jewellery, diamonds, pharmaceutical products, turbo-jets, frozen shrimps, other articles of leather or of composition leather, telephones for cellular networks "mobile telephones" or for other wireless networks.
Meanwhile, French exports to India stood at € 385.21 million. Main exports to India included aeroplanes and parts thereof, vaccines, line pipes, organic chemicals, turbo-jets and turbo propellers and gas turbines; and parts of aeroplanes or helicopters, articles of plastics and articles of other materials of heading 3901 to 3914, n.e.s.
Investment – According to the ‘Business France Annual Report 2018’, a public operator supporting French investors in India and Indian investors in France, there are over 150 Indian companies operating in France (including sub-subsidiaries), employing around 7,000 people. Seventeen investments from India were recorded in 2018, Indian projects often involved decision-making centres (59% of projects; 53% of jobs) and production/manufacturing operations (18% of projects; 34% of jobs). Investments were mainly made in the software and IT services sector (24% of projects; 30% of jobs), and the machinery and mechanical equipment sector (12% of projects; 21% of jobs).

Jurin Leads to India

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit leading private companies to visit Bengaluru and Hyderabad in India on 16-20th January 2020 with the expectation to expand Thai export and service business into India market. 3 MoUs between Indian and Thai businesses will be made during the visit which are Tapioca Dextrin trade ($1 million or around THB30 million), Modified Starch trade ($5 million or around THB150 million), and glue powder trade ($2 million or around THB60 million).

Ms. Suchitra Durai, Indian Ambassador to Thailand, visited Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Government House to discuss many topics. Mr. Somkid confirmed that Thailand is ready to collaborate with India in all sectors especially economic sector. Ms. Suchitra invited Mr. Somkid to preside over and join the event “North East India Festival 2020” which will be held during 21-23 February 2020 at Central World and Centara Grand @Central World. The event will be held to promote cooperation between the Northeast region of India and Southeast Asia. Mr. Somkid wants India to support regional connections between India and Southeast Asian countries, according to the policy “Act East Policy” of India. The Indian Ambassador also invited Thailand to be a member of “International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).”
