EEPC India is the premier trade and investment promotion organization in India. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and caters to the Indian engineering sector. As an advisory body it actively contributes to the policies of Government of India and acts as an interface between the engineering industry and the Government. Set up in 1955, EEPC India now has a membership base of over 13,000 out of whom 60% are SMEs.EEPC India organizes a large number of promotional activities such as buyer-seller meets (BSM) – both in India and abroad, overseas trade fairs/exhibitions, and India pavilion/information booths in selected overseas exhibitions to demonstrate the capabilities of Indian engineering industry and to provide the overseas buyers with true value as propagated by Brand India.India Engineering Exhibition (INDEE) is EEPC India’s own brand and is one of the largest expositions of engineering in the world. This has been happening for the last few decades and is established as the largest and most important showcase for Indian engineering.EEPC India facilitates sourcing from India and boosts the SMEs to raise their standard at par with the international best practices. It also encourages the SMEs to integrate their business to the global value chain.To encourage building global partnerships with India, EEPC India organizes International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS), the largest display of engineering products and services every year. This is recognized as the only sourcing event in India – showcasing the latest technologies and a preferred meeting place for global buyers & sellers. This show is also important to encourage foreign investments in line with the newly initiated “Make in India” campaign, by Government of India.Extending its regular agenda, EEPC India publishes several reports/studies to make the members aware about the international trends and opportunities in order to enhance their global footprints. Keeping ‘Engineering the Future’ as the motto, EEPC India serves as the reference point for the Indian engineering industry and the international business community in its efforts towards establishing India as a major engineering hub in the future.
Key Objectives of EEPC India
- To support, protect, maintain, increase and promote the exports of engineering goods;
- To keep in constant communication with Chambers of Commerce and other mercantile and public bodies throughout the world with a view to taking appropriate and necessary measures for maintaining or increasing the exports of engineering goods;
- To advise or represent to government, Local Authorities and public bodies on the policies and other measures;
- Upgradation of technology in order to boost India’s engineering exports and establishing synergy between industry and academia;
- To prepare, edit, print, publish, issue, acquire and circulate books, papers, periodicals, gazettes, circulars and other literatures treating or bearing upon industry, trade or commerce, pertaining to engineering goods.
EEPC India was granted autonomy in its administrative functioning in 1997-98. It has pan India presence operating through four regional offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata and four sub-regional offices in Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad besides the Head Office in Kolkata and the Territorial Division in New Delhi. It is a Section 8 company (Erstwhile Section 25) limited by guarantee under Companies Act and it is managed by its Boards of Directors (i.e. Working Committee). In terms of Income Tax Act, EEPC India is registered as a charitable institution
1. Promotional activities organized by EEPC India
A. India Engineering Exhibitions (INDEE)
- INDEE is the name of exclusive engineering expositions organized by EEPC India. These are being held since 1977;
- Till date 33 editions have been organized in 25 countries across five continents; and
- More than 100 Indian companies showcase their products in the INDEE exhibitions.
B. Buyer-Seller Meet
- Buyer Seller Meet is a unique platform to connect major Buyers with Sellers of engineering sector. EEPC India, in order to facilitate engineering businesses in accessing global opportunities, organizes B2B meetings, trade delegations to all over the world depending upon market potential. EEPC India has also developed an online B2B module in its website to facilitate such business meetings virtually.
C. India Pavilion in International Exhibitions and Trade Fairs
- EEPC India organizes the participation of Indian engineering exporters in reputed Global exhibitions and Trade Fairs;
- 28 such programmes in foreign countries are planned for 2016-17.
D. International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS)
International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) has become one of the signature shows in marketing ‘Brand India’ across the world.With the main objective to promote India’s image and provide a platform to Indian exporters to showcase their strengths and capabilities in an emerging market, EEPC India has been selected as the lead agency to organize the only sourcing show of our country “International Engineering Sourcing Show” (IESS) since 2012.To establish India as the destination of emerging market in the engineering sector there is a necessary to move up the value addition chain for high value precision engineering both for domestic production and exports.Creating a platform like International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS), EEPC India has given the opportunity for exporters of engineering product and services to build business contact with leading importers, buyers, dealers, distributors and wholesales of engineering product from America, Europe, Africa, Latin America, ASEAN, Australia, New Zealand and CIS Countries.Another major object is to high light India as an ‘Outsourcing hub’ for the engineering industry where a wide range of high-quality engineering items could be sourced at very competitive rates.
IESS VI – Facts & figures
Approximately 1,300 B2B Meetings were organized during the show in a separate B2B Pavilion built for this purpose. Besides that, there had been many meetings in the booths of the Exhibitors with the visitors [around 9,000], Foreign Delegates [around 481 includes 110 Russian Delegates] and other exhibitors.As per the initial feedback received, spot orders to tune of USD 0.68 Million and enquiries to the tune of USD 8.5 Million, has been generated. However, the business generated is expected to be much more after the design, drawing, metallurgy technical specification etc., are exchanged between the participants and the foreign delegates. Average Contacts made per Exhibitor is 83 which is very promising.There had been a G2G Meeting between the two Ministers immediately before the inauguration of IESS and a number of bilateral issues, particularly relating to engineering was discussed.
2. Policy Advocacy
In case of various issues related to India’s engineering sector, EEPC India constantly interacts with its member exporters and provides inputs to various Government departments like DoC, DGFT, RBI, CBEC, DoR etc.After conducting thorough stake holder consultations, EEPC India responds to queries regarding Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), India’s FTA engagement, bilateral and multilateral issues etc.EEPC India also respond to questions raised in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha regarding the engineering Industry in India.

To keep its members updated about the present national and international scenario, EEPC India regularly disseminates important information through its official website, email, newsletters, monthly magazine – Indian Engineering Export and other publications.

3. New initiatives of EEPC India
A. Standards & Accreditation
Importance of standards in today’s global trade scenario is indisputable. Technical regulations, standards and certifications, etc. are fast becoming important determinants of global trade. With lowering of tariff rates worldwide, technical regulations and standards are becoming principal tools for countries to protect their own markets and industries from global competition. In order to create awareness among the industry on International Equivalence of Certification, Accreditation & its Benefits to Industry, EEPC India in partnership with NABCB have been holding a series of Awareness Seminars at various locations within the country across different engineering clusters
B. Technology Upgradation
Low Value addition and low quality makes Indian products uncompetitive. Department of Commerce has undertaken the initiative of Technological Upgradation for Boosting Engineering Exports. To pursue the initiative of Department of Commerce and to help Indian engineering industry in upgrading technology EEPC India, first among all the EPCs, establishing Technology Centre at Bangalore and Kolkata.
C. Brand India Engineering
Department of Commerce, Government of India, has launched the "Brand India Engineering Campaign" to increase engineering exports by building global image of the quality and reliability of Indian Engineering Sector. In this context, sectors identified are pumps & valves, electrical equipments, medical equipments sector and textile machinery. EEPC India is conducting many activities to make the campaign successful. For all these sectors, it has recently launched e-catalogue which helps international buyers in locating the Indian companies.
