Performance

During last five decades, EEPC has been playing a pivotal role in increasing country’s engineering exports and as of date, engineering exports have crossed US$ 20 billion in the year 2005-06 in comparison to US$ 10 million that was achieved in the year 1956-57. Engineering exports have been registering steady growth each year and has registered a growth of 33% during 2006-07 over the previous year.

During the last five years, engineering exports have achieved an average growth of over 24%. However, there is a slight fall during 2006-07 owing to the Rupee Appreciation. In spite of this, the engineering exports during 2006-07, were more or less static as compared to the corresponding period of previous year, as USA is considered to be one of the major markets for Indian engineering products, which has an overall impact on the engineering export performance of the country. On the whole the last five years has seen steady growth and particularly it was significant at 32.40% during 2004-05 and 27.50% during 2005-06.
